The 2012 Mount Hermon Indigo presents aromatic ripe plum and berry notes rounded out with hints of spice and cocoa. This medium-bodied wine is pleasingly flavorful and very drinkable. Ready to drink now, the 2012 Mount Hermon Indigo should stay in good drinking condition for about three years from harvest.
Give the wine a try with a good juicy burger, a hot slice of thin-crust pizza, a hearty moussaka or a delicious brisket!
Following the record breaking cold and hot temperatures of harvests 2011 and 2010 respectively, we thankfully returned to a more typical vintage in 2012. Our first-ever release of this wine, the 2012 Mount Hermon Indigo was blended from the traditional French varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah (also known as Shiraz), giving the wine its beautiful indigo color. The fruit was harvested from our vineyards in the cool Golan Heights. Completing malolactic fermentation, the wine was bottled without sterile filtration.
The Galilee (or Galil) is the most northern, and generally considered the best, appellation in Israel. The highest quality area within the appellation is the Golan Heights (or simply the Golan), the coldest region in Israel. The vineyards on this volcanic plateau rise from 400 meters (1,300 feet) above sea level to 1,200 meters (3,900 feet) and receive snowfall in the winter. Golan Heights Winery is located in the town of Katzrin in the central Golan.
