The Buena Vista on San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf serves as many as 2,000 of these famous Irish Coffees each day. Bennigan's and Irish pubs across the U.S. serve countless, especially in the winter. January 25 is
National Irish Coffee Day. It's a great way to warm up.  May the luck of the Irish be with you!

6 ounces strong brewed coffee
2 sugar cubes (about 2 teaspoons granulated sugar)
1 1/2 ounces Irish whiskey-about one jigger (For kosher brands, see CRC Liquor List)
Heavy cream, lightly whipped

Fill heatproof glass mug with very hot water to pre-heat, then empty.
Pour hot coffee into hot mug or glass until it is about three-quarters full.
Drop in two cocktail sugar cubes.
